Have you always dreamed of taking piano lessons or a dance class, or picking up that instrument you haven’t played since high school? At the FSPA, it’s never too late! Private lessons and a variety of classes give the adult learner all the fun, excitement and fulfillment that comes with playing an instrument, singing or dancing!

Songwriter’s Class Download Flier
Write as many songs in as many styles as you can in this eight-week, action-packed class that includes blues, rock, pop, rap and more in our state-of-the-art computer music lab. You also get to take a CD of your original compositions with you!
Tuesdays, 7:00-9:00 pm.

PRIVATE LESSONS

Flute Fun Private lessons are a great way for you to learn to play a new instrument or hone existing skills. You’ll find lessons available on nearly every instrument and in voice, music theory and accompaniment. ENSEMBLES

Do you have great memories of band or do you enjoy making music with others? Music ensembles provide a fun and challenging way to rehearse and perform great music together with other musicians. As part of an ensemble, you will meet weekly from mid-September through April.

Chamber Music
Remember the great feeling of making music with a small group? Enjoy that again as you join with other adults performing a variety of chamber music. Call for current times.

Jazz Combos Download Flier
Where can you play combo arrangements of famous jazz tunes by Miles Davis and Horace Silver, transcribed directly from their original albums? With the FSPA’s Jazz Combo! Forming again after a short hiatus, the Jazz Combo offers a great way for anyone aged 14 to adult to play jazz and learn more about the art of improvisation. Jeff Price, who has taught saxophone for several years at the FSPA, will lead weekly sessions.

New Horizons Intermediate Band Download Flier
Did you play in high school, but haven’t picked up your instrument much since then? This is the place for you. You’ll have the advantage of small group sectional rehearsals, as well as, band rehearsals. Classes are held in the evenings. Wednesdays, 6:30-8:30 pm.

If you’re an adult looking for a beginning band experience, this is a great day-time program. We’ll even help you select which instrument you’d like to play. Wednesdays, 6:30-8:30 pm.

DANCE CLASSES

Ballroom Dance
Get out on the dance floor with confidence and style. FSPA Ballroom Dance Classes can teach anyone to dance—individuals or couples. You’ll learn basic floor movement skills found in popular dance styles, as well as, leading, following and moving with balance. And, you’ll look good while doing it! Two classes are available:

    Foxtrot, Waltz and Tango-Wednesdays, 7:00-8:00 pm.
    Rumba, ChaCha and SwingWednesdays, 8:00-9:00 pm.

Private lessons are also available for individuals and couples.

Adult Ballet - If you’ve taken classes in the past, this is a great way to stretch and reacquaint yourself with basic ballet moves. Call 810.238.1350 ext 3 for current class schedule or visit www.thefim.com/schedule-dance.asp

Men's Ballet Class A great new way for high school and adult male ballet dancers to develop their skills is now available. Taught by Lawrence Newman, this class allows dancers to come together and focus on the masculine skills of ballet. Tuesdays, 6:00-7:30 pm.

Hip Hop - If your dance tastes are a bit more pop culture, Hip Hop class is the place to be. The classes are multi-generational and multicultural, and cross over every training level from beginners to advanced. Saturdays, 11:00-12:00 pm.
