FSO Special Events

The Flint Symphony Orchestra offers special events throughout the year to enhance your symphony-going experience.  From pre-concert talks to dinners with a special message from the Maestro, there are a variety of events for all people.



Pre-Concert Talks

glen-holcombStart your evening with our free PreConcert Talk held in The Whiting one hour before every FSO Classical Concert. Learn more about the music and gain fascinating insights about the composers.

February 20, 2010 - March 20, 2010 - April 17, 2010

The talks this year are presented by Glen Holcomb, a faculty member at the Flint School of Performing Arts. Holcomb is a vocal music instructor and lecturer of music history.

He holds an undergraduate degree in music; world and American history and master’s degrees in music and American culture studies.

 
Mahler - Diemecke Night

Maestro Enrique DiemeckeJoin Maestro Diemecke as he previews Mahler's Seventh Symphony which the FSO will perform January 23, 2010. You will hear significant passages and enjoy Maestro Diemecke's fascinating exploration of this incredible work.

Black Classical Music Family Festival
Join Maestro Diemecke, the Flint Symphony Orchestra and guest artist and FlintCreative-Expressions native Isaac Grier in performing some of best vocal works of the 20th century.  Part of the Annual Black Classical Musical Family Festival.
